Every school has their own advantages and disadvantages and everyone has his or her own preferences, so be sure to make the decision that is right for you!

Pros of  Western Technical College

  • Price efficiency
  • Hands on learning
  • Offers dormsAshs-teacher-and-students
  • Easier transition for students
  • Small class sizes
  • Better teacher/student relationships
  • Opportunities for apprenticeships/internships
  • Classes are directly related to chosen program
  • Can make great connections through networking
  • Credits are transferrable to 4-year colleges
  • Locations usually close to home

Pros of a 4-year University

  • A lot of choices for degrees
  • Can meet a wide variety of people
  • Offers dorms
  • 4-year degrees has a large variety of job opportunities

Cons of  Western Technical College

  • May have to commute
  • Limited amount of programs
  • Lack of “campus life”

Cons of a 4-year University

  • Very expensive, almost 3 times more than a technical college
  • Large classrooms
  • Lack of availability for certain classes
